Our Students

  • We have students from 125 countries and territories.
  • Nine out of 10 (94.1%) of all our graduates are in work or further study six months after graduating (Source: Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey 2013/14. Includes all UK, EU and overseas undergraduates and postgraduates).
  • Our National Student Survey (NSS) results have shown an increase in overall student satisfaction from 69 per cent in 2009 to 82 per cent in 2015.
  • We were ranked 1st in the world for technology, ranked 2nd in the world for virtual learning and ranked 3rd in the world for our laboratories (Out of 172 institutions, including 50 UK universities. Source: i-graduate Student Barometer, Autumn Wave 2015).
  • Famous alumni include Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs, Piers Aggett and Kesi Dryden from Rudimental and Olympic Triathlon gold medallist Alistair Brownlee MBE.

    • Our University contributes an estimated £520 million annually to the economy.
    • Since 2004, our Enterprise and Innovation Academy Team has helped create 170 student and graduate businesses, 207 jobs, awarded 181 grants and delivered 1,745 one-to-one appointments with a business mentor.
