Mathew Donley

Mathew Donley, is one of 14 Leeds Beckett first year students to be selected for the University’s annual Bright Futures Scholarships.

Mathew, aged 19, and a former pupil of Belmont Community School, said he was delighted to receive the scholarship and that he would use the funding towards music-related ventures as well as living expenses and travel costs. He commented: “Being awarded this scholarship has really boosted my confidence, as it reflects on all of my hard work and dedication to my studies so far.

“I plan to use part of the money towards offering an up-and-coming band recording service which will help me make a name for myself, as it’s very important to get your name known and build a good reputation in the live sound industry. I also hope to gain hands-on experience shadowing a sound engineer by volunteering at local music festivals, so the funding will give me the financial security to be able to pursue that.”
