What does the team do?

The Get Ahead Team facilitates a programme of activities which seek to raise the motivation, aspiration and attainment of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The activities are targeted primarily at those who traditionally would not have considered progression into Higher Education.

Each year over 15,000 young people and their families participate in 'Get Ahead' initiatives. Projects facilitated by the team are tailored to specific age groups and range from one day taster sessions, summer schools and revision programmes through to more specific and tailored programmes and events.

Your donations

Donations to this scheme have supported a range of activities such as residential summer schools and starter packs for new Leeds Beckett students. Donations also went to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds undertaking the Progression Module, a formal programme of study which gives Year 12 students the opportunity to investigate and research progression routes into Higher Education. 80% of the young people who undertook this course successfully went on the gain a place at university.
