Ben Widdup

An aspiring Huddersfield graphic designer has been awarded a prestigious arts scholarship to support his studies.

Ben Widdup, aged 25 and in his third year at Leeds Beckett University undertaking a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Arts and Design, is one of seven undergraduates from the university to have been selected to receive the funding from property investors, Rushbond Plc.

The former Batley College student said that after graduating this summer he hopes to set up his own art and design business. He commented: “The funding will go directly towards creating my design work and will contribute towards materials for my final major project which will consider concepts such as the exponential growth of technology. My project will incorporate 3D work with computer components and a human model and I will be producing a video. The scholarship will be of great help when it comes to paying for the printing costs of items such as posters, stickers and vinyl cutting texts.

“The funding will also give me the opportunity to look at different, innovative ways of presenting my work in my final degree show, and will go towards me launching my own website where I will be showcasing my design work.”
