Mill Street can be found on the east side of the city centre at the heart of the arts community with the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Phoenix Dance Theatre and BBC Leeds studios all just next door. It houses just under 450 students and makes for a short walk through the city centre to get to City Campus.

Mill Street is just a 2 minute walk from the Leeds' vibrant city centre. There is everything you could possibly need less than half a mile away, with local convenience stores, bars and clubs on your doorstep. Take a 10 minute walk into the City Centre and you'll find larger supermarkets or alternatively visit the historic Victorian market on Vicar Lane (the birthplace of Marks & Spencers) where you can find a full range of meat, fish and vegetable stalls. The recently built Victoria Gate brings big name brands all under one roof including John Lewis, COS and Joules.
Leeds city centre is home to plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, all of which are a 10-minute walk away from Mill Street. Major retailers such as Topshop, Hollister, Victoria’s Secret and Primark can all be found in Trinity Leeds, which also includes Trinity Kitchen, where you will find a rotating selection of street food vans, a cinema and a number of bars and restaurants. There’s something for everyone in Trinity!
At night you will be spoiled for choice with plenty of student nights held in the clubs as well as lots of bars to choose from if you’d like a more relaxed evening.
If you fancy some live music, first direct arena, Leeds Beckett SU, Brudenell Social Club and the O2 Academy all hold regular concerts and gigs. There is also Live at Leeds Festival which takes place annually over May Day bank holiday weekend and has hosted bands such as Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran and Bombay Bicycle Club.
If sport is more your thing then you are in luck; Leeds hosts major sporting events on a regular basis with the ITU World Triathlon visiting Leeds next year. You can also watch Leeds Utd try to reclaim their spot in the Premiership at Elland Road, Leeds Rhinos battle for the super league title or Yorkshire County Cricket go for championship glory.
There is an onsite gym at Mill Street which is free for residents to use. The University Gym is also great value for money so you can exercise in-between lectures. Find out more about what’s on offer at the University here.
