Sugarwell Court is close to a large Waitrose, Aldi and Asda as well as some of the best bars and restaurants Leeds has to offer.

Meanwood is a suburban area with some of the best bars, restaurants and cafés in Leeds and is a short walk away from the student utopias of Hyde Park, Woodhouse and Headingley. It’s also home to Get Baked where you can pick up some of the least healthy/most tasty takeaway burgers in Yorkshire.

Leeds city centre is a short bus ride away and home to plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Major retailers such as Topshop, Hollister, Victoria’s Secret and Primark can all be found in Trinity Leeds, which also includes Trinity Kitchen, where you will find a rotating selection of street food vans, a cinema and a number of bars and restaurants. There’s something for everyone in Trinity!

At night you will be spoiled for choice with plenty of student nights held in the clubs as well as lots of bars to choose from if you’d like a more relaxed evening.

If you fancy some live music, first direct arena, Leeds Beckett SU, Brudenell Social Club and the O2 Academy all hold regular concerts and gigs. There is also Live at Leeds Festival which takes place annually over May Day bank holiday weekend and has hosted bands such as Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran and Bombay Bicycle Club.

If sport is more your thing then you are in luck; Leeds hosts major sporting events on a regular basis with the ITU World Triathlon visiting Leeds next year. You can also watch Leeds Utd try to reclaim their spot in the Premiership at Elland Road, Leeds Rhinos battle for the super league title or Yorkshire County Cricket go for championship glory.

A number of gyms can also be found in the city centre including the University gym, Pure Gym and Virgin Active, all of which offer a full timetable of classes.

We recommend registering with a doctor when you arrive in Leeds. Woodhouse Medical Centre is a short walk away from Sugarwell Court.

The University’s Wellbeing Team offers a free and confidential service to help manage any difficulties you may experience during your time at Leeds Beckett.
