Former students, Piers Aggett and Kesi Dryden who make up half of the group Rudimental stormed the UK charts late last year (2012) with their number one single, 'Feel the Love'.  Both graduated from our University in 2008 from the BSc (Hons) Creative Music and Sound Technology course.

Rudimental were shortlisted in the MOBO category of Best Newcomer along with Rita Ora and former X-Factor contestant Misha B. Last year's MOBO awards saw superstar Jessie J crowned winner in the same category. New single, 'Not Giving In', was released on 18 November 2012.

Piers said: "We did a remix module at Leeds Beckett which gave us a buzz for getting vocals and manipulating them in our own way which evolved from there. The course helped us to understand the range of jobs available in the industry: I discovered live sound and music to picture and was able to apply for jobs afterwards that I didn't even know existed."

Kesi added: The facilities at Leeds Beckett are second to none. Being in the music industry now and looking back, we remember things that we learnt on the course. For example, it gave us an insight into publishing and knowledge of things that we now have to deal with in our careers."

The duo's former tutor, Alex Wyse commented:  “We all know how difficult it is to make a major breakthrough in the music industry, so it's fantastic that they've not only succeeded, but done so in such a fashion. Make no mistake they've worked really hard for this”
