Can you tell us a bit about yourselves?

I’m originally from Thailand and Di is from China. We met at Leeds Beckett when we were studying for an MSc in International Hospitality Management. We graduated in 2004. Thirteen years later we got married. I live and work in Bangkok and Di works in Beijing, China.

"I met Di on the first day of the course. Our class had 16 students: two British, two Indian, two Nepalese, two Thai, and the rest were all Chinese. Our workgroup had six students, myself and Di and four others; we were friends for the first semester and became a couple from April 2005.”

What did you do after you graduated?

We both returned to Thailand. Di began working with a real estate company until 2007 when, realising his love for the sector, he moved to Beijing to take on the role of Associate Director at CBRE Consulting. I worked as an academic counsellor for education consultants, Hamilton International, which later merged and became Hands On Chidlom, where I am now branch manager.

What are you both doing now?

It’s become a long-distance relationship. We meet only a few times a year and for a few days at a time. We finally married in July 2016 and I’m still working in Bangkok and Di’s still working in Beijing, China. He plans to immigrate to Bangkok in one to two years and will run his own business either in education or a real estate company of his own.
