Juha is the academic leader for international development at the School of Art, Architecture and Design, and studio tutor for the BA (Hons) Architecture.
Role within the School
Diploma in Architecture (Architectural Association), ARB/RIBA Part 3 Architectural Qualification, Licentiate in Technology (Helsinki).
Before joining our university, Juha directed his own studio practice and worked across many fields of design and related areas, including architecture, branding, graphics, interiors and exhibitions, journalism, publishing and film; he also taught design in Finland and the UK. Juha has worked extensively with international and Finnish design and design-related organisations and has curated exhibitions on Alvar Aalto’s oil paintings, on the works of Alexander Rodchenko, and on advertising photography.
Juha has designed exhibition displays for Finnish museums and galleries, delivered architectural commissions for private clients and worked on branding and corporate identity for various companies in Finland. He was consultant creative director for a publishing house, and adviser on corporate identity and product development for various small and medium-sized enterprises.

Juha has written many articles for Finnish newspapers and design magazines, and his work has been published in international magazines such as Interni in Italy, Tools in Denmark, Tarzan in Japan and Design in England. He is co-editor of a book on advertising photography, and is an editorial board member of design publications and magazines in Finland.
