Dominic Miles-Shenton

Dominic joined the University in January 2004 after working in both the voluntary and education sectors, prior to that he had gained eleven years experience within the building product supply industry. He has been involved in the day to day running of a number of different consultancy and research projects. Most notably: Condensation Risk – impact of Improvements to Part L and Robust Details on Part C and Airtightness of Buildings – Towards Higher Performance , projects which were undertaken by the FMNectar consortium for the former ODPM (now the Department for Communities & Local Government). He has also been associated with the Stamford Brook PII Project since 2004, performing pressurisation and coheating tests on the initial dwellings completed in early 2005 through to the latterly completed phase 1 dwellings in summer 2007. More recently, Dominic has been particularly involved in the analysis of the relationships between “as-designed” and “as-realised” performance of new-build housing and the refurbishment of existing dwellings, expatiating on the forensic approach adopted across CeBE’s varied fieldwork studies. This has involved measuring both fabric and systems performance of numerous UK dwellings; encompassing a variety of construction forms,  across a wide disparity of designed performance levels and evaluating the efficacy of interventions and refurbishment measures.
