Beckett Food is reducing food waste with Too Good To Go

Too Good to Go provides a channel for surplus food from stores and restaurants to go to good use. By working with Too Good To Go Beckett Food will reduce food waste by finding people willing to pay a reduced rate for food that would otherwise go to waste. We’re in good company – Café Nero, Yo! Sushi, and many more independents across Leeds and the United Kingdom have already signed up.

We’re passionate about improving our sustainability, like locally sourcing our food and serving Fairtrade tea and coffee, an important factor in this is reducing waste. Currently 99% of our waste is diverted from landfill by being converted into a nutrient rich biofertilizer by our specialist recycling partners.

Our aim is for more meals to be used for their purpose - providing healthy, tasty and nutritious food. Our meals get a second chance with Too Good To Go by becoming part of a Magic Bag.

What’s a Magic Bag?

For just £3.00 you’ll get at least £9.00 worth of food from our Cafés and Beckett Kitchen. You can choose from a Meat or Veggie Magic Bag and within you’ll find a mixture of sandwiches, cakes, pastries, salads and much more. Part of the magic and mystery is you won’t know exactly what’s in the bag until you pick it up!

How Can I Pick One Up?

Our first Magic Bags will be available to pick up from the start of December at City Campus. If it’s successful we’ll be adding Headingley Campus as a pick up location in the New Year.

To get your bag download the free Too Good To Go app from your App Store, set your location and look out for our uploads – they will be available to collect after 2pm Monday to Friday. Just reserve a bag and then collect it from Beckett Kitchen in The Rose Bowl.
