Over 400 students from Architecture, Art and Design, Creative Technologies, Film, Music and Sound and Performing Arts courses will present work that responds to an evolving world and challenges our preconceptions about the future. The show launches at 2pm on Thursday 16th September. Here’s a sneak preview of what you can expect from our Creative Technologies and Film courses.

Creative Technologies

Sophie Branowsky

BSc (Hons) Creative Media Technology graduate, Sophie Branowsky, worked on the concepts for an app called Shop-In, producing all the visual elements an and brand guidelines. Shop-In started with the idea of an app which encouraged users to shop with and visit their local independents rather than larger high street names. Whilst conducting research, the majority of people wanted to support local businesses and the app aims to tackle the main issues people had, around cost and convenience, by allowing people to view all of the independent businesses in the area, searching by sector, finding local events, and receiving updates, coupons, and vouchers.

FASHION X GAMES

The FASHION X GAMES collaboration between Games Design, Fashion and Graphic Design students showcased fashion garments within a 3D exhibition environment - all created by the students themselves. Set in Leeds Beckett’s very own Broadcasting Tower, the game and each room offer insight into the students' diversity, creativity, and talent. Using the programme Marvelous Designer, fashion students produced virtual garments of their final collections. Games design students then created unique environments and avatars for each collection to fit each fashion projects artistic direction. Additional artwork and design elements were produced by Graphic Design students. Now available to play at lsafashiongame.com and will also be featured on the Leeds School of Arts Show.

Film

A group of students from BA (Hons) Filmmaking produced a short film inspired by real-world events. The Paths We Follow is an experimental drama that explores the concept of chance. This provocative piece follows a young black man through the unnerving outdoors of modern-day Britain, with the outcome of his journey determined by one small decision that will destine his future.
