Sewell who are in charge of the project are managing all the different requirements of the sub contractors as “everybody always seems to want to work in the same room at the same time”! They supplied us with a list of all the works completed so far (there’s lots of it we don’t understand but we’re still impressed!):

  • Site set up / accommodation
  • Floor coverings removed
  • Suspended ceilings stripped out
  • Demolition of partition walls
  • M&E isolations
  • Setting out of the new walls
  • 1st fix IPS
  • Ductwork
  • Plastering to new walls
  • Internal walls / plasterboard
  • 1st fix M&E
  • Plaster patching
  • Mist coating to walls
  • Pre finished screens
  • Suspended Ceilings

And this week Library staff had access to the floor to take photos of the glass going in to partition the new Student Meeting Rooms:

Painting is also well underway and the fixed furniture such as the printing tables is being installed.

We’ve always known that the floor wouldn’t be opened until a few weeks into term but we also know that it will be worth the wait!
