Dean of School, Professor Rhodri Thomas, was recently part of an international team working with The Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. Their role was to evaluate an application to accredit provision in the field of tourism and hotel management.

Professor Chris Cooper also spent an enjoyable few days in Cyprus in September, reviewing grant proposals for the Cypriot ‘Research and Innovation Foundation’. He was there with other tourism academics to assess and rank proposals submitted to the ‘integrated proposals for priority sectors'. Cyprus has prioritised tourism as an area for research and is supporting tourism research with generous funding.

Commenting on the experience, Professor Thomas noted: ‘It’s important to contribute to supporting colleagues working in different parts of the world and always good to find out how others approach vocational education. I learned a lot about the Cypriot approach to quality and will reflect on some aspects of our practice.’
