Leeds Beckett University gives second life to its own furniture

Reuse! That is a word which has been heard many times recently. As a large organisation, where thousands of people work and study, we have a significant environmental impact. As we are working to reduce our amount of waste, we try to reuse many of our items. Over the previous week, we have had a trial with Over2Hills. They are a company which provide a several services from delivering furniture to charities on our behalf, to re-working our furniture back into our university. By upcycling, their technicians can give even the most used items a new lease of life.

Above on the left is a chair that was found in the library waiting area. After re-working it, Over2Hills have managed to give it a second life. This is where reuse comes in place. The challenge after recycling is to reduce the amount of products we consume and reuse what can be.
