The Employer Engagement team here at Leeds Beckett are experts in connecting employers with our talented students and graduates and we offer a range of services to support your recruitment needs from project work, temporary help, placements and internships to graduate opportunities.

We have a long history of working closely with businesses throughout Yorkshire, nationally and internationally. There are many ways we can work in partnership to recruit and develop your workplace talent, from advertising vacancies to on-campus events and we look forward to discussing how we can best tailor our approach to suit your business needs.

Meet the Team:
Debbie Adams – Head of Employer Engagement

Debbie manages the Employer Engagement team at Leeds Beckett University.  She worked in the recruitment industry for over 12 years before moving to work in Higher Education, as a Careers Adviser and Placements and Employability Tutor for 7 years at the University of Bradford.

She leads employer engagement strategy within the team and focuses on building effective activities and initiatives to enable students and recent graduates find part-time work, placements, project work and graduate roles. 

Katie Cliff – Employer Engagement Consultant

Katie has over 15 years’ experience working within Graduate and Experience Hire Recruitment and Development across a range of different sectors including not-for-profit, manufacturing, retail and professional services.

She is focused on connecting students and employers in the areas of Clinical and Applied Sciences; Health and Community Studies; and Social Sciences.

Maria Dobrzanska – Employer Engagement Consultant

Maria offers support across a number of academic Schools within Architecture, Environment and Technology, and delivers a programme of central and school specific employer led activities.

With a proven record of successful employer engagement Maria took joint-lead on organising an innovative Creative and Digital Careers Week at the university in 2016, and has also initiated various employer engagement activities such as mentoring, employer stands, employer led workshops and on-site visits.

Richard Stringer – Employer Engagement Consultant

Richard has worked in Higher Education for six years, with previous positions in student recruitment and widening participation. His focus has now become enabling students to access graduate-level work after they leave university, by working in collaboration with careers staff, academics and employers.

He is currently working with colleagues across the Schools of Education and Childhood; Events, Tourism, Hospitality and Languages; and Sport.

Sorrel Leader - Employer Engagement Coordinator

Sorrel has worked in Higher Education for five years, with previous roles in student recruitment and student support. Sorrel is responsible for coordinating our employer events on campus with a particular focus on the large scale Careers Fairs, including the annual Graduate and Placements Fair.

Elliot Viles - Employer Engagement Administrator

Elliot is your first port of call when referring any opportunities to the Employer Engagement Team. With an in-depth understanding of our Career Hub vacancy system, our annual calendar of events and how we are working with specific industries and businesses, he can advise you confidently before referring you onto the relevant consultant.
