Student Map of Leeds

When you study at Leeds Beckett, you aren't just attending a great university — you're also coming to the big, vibrant and student-friendly city of Leeds. Our Student Map of Leeds shows off just some of the great student-friendly spots in Leeds nominated by our Students’ Union. Scroll down the page to view a Google Map of the locations.

Mog's Café

‘A new café and takeaway in Kirkstall, delivering all over the city. Everything on the menu can be made vegan, veggie or with meat so it suits all lifestyles. I warn you though, it’s very addictive.’

Jack Harrison, VP Education

Ice Scoop Gelato

‘If you’re a dessert person, Ice Scoop is the place for you. There's a range of desserts to blow your mind - my personal favourite is the gelato milkshake.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Dare Café

‘The perfect hangover cure. A very good full English breakfast skillet for £5. What more could you want after a great night out?’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Ecco Pizzeria

‘One of the best pizza places in Leeds. This pizzeria offers normal 12” pizzas as well as massive, half metre pizzas to share between two people. A great, easy choice when the parents are visiting for the weekend.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Trinity Kitchen

‘There are a huge number of options to choose from, whether you want something fried and delicious or fresh and healthy. I usually get burritos from Tortilla - they're freshly made and you don't have to pay extra for guacamole if you are veggie (important).’

Ro Sewell, VP Equality & Diversity

Crunchy Sandwiches

‘This is the final stop to any night out I go on. A panini, baguette or wrap for £3.50 with a wide range of fillings is a great way to sober yourself up before bed. Also their samosas aren’t half bad.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

R.K. Harris & Sons

‘R.K. Harris & Sons greengrocers on North Lane in Headingley is really good for cheap, fresh, good quality fruit and veg shopping.’

Ro Sewell, VP Equality & Diversity

Bibis Italianissimo

‘Quite expensive for the student budget, but if you find yourself hungry for Italian and there's cash burning a hole in your pocket, check this place out. Best pizza I’ve ever had I think, and the inside of the restaurant is so nice!’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

Zaap Thai

'An authentic Thai restaurant filled with ornaments and displays directly from Thailand. The food here is fantastic, and you can even dine in a TukTuk - the closest to Thailand you’re going to get in Leeds!’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

The Cat's Pyjamas

‘Located in both the city centre and Headingley, this Indian cuisine is to die for. It isn’t too expensive either so you have no excuse.’

Kelly-Anne Watson, VP Welfare & Community

Nawaab Khan

‘The best Indian takeaway in the world. Enough said!’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

‘A good takeaway/café for burgers, pizzas and Moroccan food. They do great vegan and veggie options and the staff are usually really friendly.’

Ro Sewell, VP Equality & Diversity

‘What more can I say than this is the starting point of the infamous Otley run?!’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Original Oak

‘It has a really big beer garden with TV screens so you can watch sports games whilst having a drink with friends.’

Jack Harrison, VP Education

Whites café

'The venue doubles up as a small café during the day that serves great healthy food and turns into a small cocktail bar at night. This is a great way to spend an evening relaxing with a few drinks in hand or maybe even for a first date.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activites

Mean Eyed Cat

‘One of the hidden gems of Leeds - each drink you buy you roll a dice and if it lands on a certain number you get a discount on your drinks. On top of this, every drink you order, you get free pizza thrown in!’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

‘This rooftop terrace and bar located in Trinity is the most scenic place in Leeds. The cocktails are stupendous (but will set you back a bit of money). However, it’s worth it for the scenery when the student loan hits and it's ideal for a first date.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Key Club

‘An alternative rock club for those on the better side of their music taste. Very cheap drinks and generally a good vibe whenever I go in. If you’re into that kind of music, you will love it here.’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

‘Another great and upmarket bar in Trinity. A more exotic choice with the cocktails living up to the name and having a chemistry feel.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

‘On Wednesdays there is a jazz night, need I say more?’

Kelly-Anne Watson, VP Welfare & Community

The Domino

‘The epitome of edgy Leeds, this bar is located through a barbers - head down the stairs and you’re in The Domino. The drinks aren't ideal for the student budget, but definitely somewhere to check out during your time here.’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

Call Lane

‘This strip of popular bars is always lively. Call Lane Social and Revs de Cuba are a couple of my favourites. Great for a bar crawl and a busy night without the clubbing vibe.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Dry Dock

‘My favourite place to hang out is Dry Dock, a boat-shaped pub located just outside City Campus. It has a relaxed and chilled atmosphere and good food for cheap prices.’

Jack Harrison, VP Education

The Botanist

‘Head here if you want some fancy, fresh cocktails. The atmosphere is lovely, it's decorated beautifully and they usually have someone playing acoustic music. The cocktails are on the more expensive side, but I feel like you get your money's worth.’

Ro Sewell, VP Equality & Diversity

Hyde park Book Club

‘Hyde Park Book Club is great because they do really good coffee and amazing vegan chicken wraps as well as being a space with some great events such as open mic nights, poetry events, socials and art exhibitions.’

Ro Sewell, VP Equality & Diversity

Students' Union Bar

‘There's a Students’ Union bar on both campuses where you can find a newly designed menu, cheap drinks and even cheaper food (there's a 10% NUS discount). The SU bars are the perfect place to go between lectures and seminars!'

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

City Bloc

'A huge warehouse filled with a skate park and a bouldering wall. If you are into either of these things, or want to get involved, City Bloc is perfect for you, offering student discount and good prices overall.’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

Roundhay Park

‘A huge beautiful park, perfect for summer walks and picnics.’

Kelly-Anne Watson, VP Welfare & Community

The Royal Park

‘A great place to do all three, hang out, eat and drink! It has cheap food, drink and even a student rewards card. If you’re into sport, it’s a good place to catch all the main sporting events.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Ilkley Moor

‘If you fancy exploring Yorkshire, Ilkley Moor is not to be missed, with great walking trails and huge rocks you can climb up, it’s a great active day out.’

Meg Robinson, Students’ Union President

The Arc, Box & The Pit

‘Drink and food prices can be very cheap with a season ticket (given when joining a sports team). If you want a busy, sociable, student night, a bar crawl to these three bars will suffice!’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Headingley Carnegie Stadium

‘Being a massive cricket fan, I’ve often caught a game or two here and with cheap student tickets, it's not too expensive either. Definitely recommend catching a game of cricket during your time in Leeds.’

Aidan Thatcher, VP Activities

Trinity Shopping Centre

‘The main shopping centre in Leeds, filled with lots of great shops and some cool food places too!’

Kelly-Anne Watson, VP Welfare & Community
