Being a Leeds Beckett Student

Leeds Beckett University and its Students’ Union are committed to working in partnership with our students to ensure that our University is an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment which is conducive to study for its students and work for its staff.

Our Student Charter sets out how we can do this by working together to understand and fulfil our commitments to one another. To learn effectively both staff and students must actively engage with one another and we will support you to engage with all aspects of your learning as best you can.

Learning and Teaching at Leeds Beckett

To ensure we meet a high standard of quality, we continuously review our courses and teaching and are committed to make improvements or change practices if this benefits our students. An important role within this are our External Examiners, who are part of the quality assurance at Leeds Beckett.

The Higher Education Review conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in 2014 confirmed that we fully meet UK higher education standards in all four judgment areas (setting and maintenance of standards; quality of student learning opportunities; quality of information about learning opportunities; enhancement of student learning opportunities).

Research at Leeds Beckett

Being part of Leeds Beckett, you are not just joining a community of learners and educators but also a community of researchers. Our research is nationally and internationally recognised and often has a strong focus on industry applications.

Besides our established researchers, we also have a large community of postgraduate research students at a Master, professional doctorate, and PhD level. Who knows where your current studies take you - you might be joining them at some point in the future!

For more information on Leeds Beckett's research areas and degrees, please have a look at the Research section of the University website.
