Addressing Professional Challenges in Diverse and Complex Educational Landscapes

The Professorial Inaugural Lecture by Professor Rachel Lofthouse and Professor Jonathan Glazzard

Professor Rachel Lofthouse and Professor Jonathan Glazzard’s ongoing research highlights the important roles of professional learning and social justice within the education system.

Professor Rachel Lofthouse holds the title of the Winifred Mercier Professor of Education. Rachel has a specific research interest in professional learning, in particular how teachers learn through approaches. In this lecture, Rachel will explore the lived experiences of education practice and the opportunities and constraints on professional learning.

Professor Jonathan Glazzard currently leads on research in the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, and he is director of the Centre for LGBT+ Inclusion in Schools. He also teaches across a range of teacher education courses. Jonathan's lecture will draw on conceptual frameworks to understand the interpretations of inclusion in educational contexts.

Both Rachel Lofthouse and Jonathan Glazzard are Professors of Teacher Education in the Carnegie School of Education at Leeds Beckett University.

This is a part of Leeds Beckett University’s Professorial Inaugural Series.
