Leeds Light Night: The Spoils of Innovation

Leeds Beckett University performing arts students are taking part in the 14th edition of Leeds Light Night.

Taking inspiration from Brecht’s play ‘Mother Courage and Her Children’, this roaming performance by Leeds Beckett Performing Arts students centres around a rolling wagon.

From here, students will sing songs, interact with the public, perform movement and deliver short texts, as the wagon fills with performers, artefacts and fragments of the city’s cultural innovation. Drawing on the topics of the contradiction between innovation and capitalism, ‘The Spoils of Innovation’ asks - Who profits from innovation and at what consequence?
