Social, Psychological and Communications Sciences

The School of Social, Psychological and Communication Sciences offers a wide range of exciting and challenging subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels which address the key psychological, social, political and interpersonal communication issues of today.

We have a growing research and consultancy reputation and have recently established the Centre for Social Science Research. The majority of staff in the School are research active, the School led on two units of assessment for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 (Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience / Social Work and Social Policy). Most of our staff group hold doctoral level and post graduate teaching qualifications and many have substantial experience of working in professional and clinical practice.

The School, through its various subject areas, is committed to enhancing opportunity, enterprise and excellence. We will provide a supportive, innovative and dynamic environment by developing mutually beneficial partnerships with professional bodies and local, regional and national employers which will enhance the potential of our students, staff, and key stakeholders. These partnerships will also enable us to develop further knowledge within our disciplines, to influence change across our areas of practice, and to provide students with the range of skills required for graduate level employment both within the UK and the global market.
