Dr Steven Gerrard is a film historian and a Senior Lecturer at the Northern Film School. His main research area is in British low and populist culture, and he remains a lifelong fan of the British seaside, saucy postcards, and all things naughty but nice. Steve's output includes two monographs: The Carry On Films (Palgrave MacMillan) and The Modern British Horror Film (Rutgers University Press). He is also editor of Gender in Horror Television (Emerald Publishing) and Crank It Up! Jason Statham (Manchester University Press). As a fan of horror films, Steve has written extensively for We Belong Dead and The Dark Side Magazine. A busy chap, he has also appeared on TV and been heard on national radio talking about his research, whilst waxing lyrically about all things Carry On. In his spare time he longs to be either Status Quo's rhythm guitarist or Doctor Who. He'll have a long wait.
