The Leadership Centre
The Leadership Centre specialises in providing tailored training and professional qualifications to suit the needs of both individuals and organisations, ultimately developing confident, capable and imaginative leaders. As part of an innovative and progressive university, we have a wealth of research expertise as well as access to emerging approaches to make sure our training is at the forefront of leadership and business development. Programmes within the Leadership Centre are structured to provide both theoretical and practical learning with numerous opportunities for personal reflection.
We adopt a dynamic approach to training, which involves practical application of learning to real world situations; therefore you can apply the training to your workplace challenges from the outset, enhancing return on investment.

The Independent Food and Drink Academy
The Independent Food and Drink Academy (IFDA), provides a unique service to small independent enterprises from street food traders through to established small businesses, offering advice, support and training to help their businesses grow in this dynamic sector. Developed and delivered by industry experts, the Academy is a joint partnership with Leeds Beckett University and Leeds City Council.
The Retail Institute
Alongside its innovative research, the Retail Institute works with suppliers, brand owners and retailers to help support future product, packaging and retail needs. The team work closely with clients to understand their needs in order to deliver real commercial benefits for them and their customers.
Many of our undergraduate students in the Business School undertake consultancy projects. These are year-long modules that ask students to put the skills they have gained into practice working with a real business. This can be an excellent way to get the brightest talent working on areas of your business from a new perspective which you may not have the additional resource to focus on otherwise.
You also have the option to work with our postgraduate students on their Live Commercial Project module, which poses a real-life project alternative to the research-based dissertation. We will work with you to ensure the right students are matched to your project in order to maximise the gain for your business and support the student experience.
Our programmes are specially formulated for groups of leaders based on challenges faced in your organisation. The main benefit of a tailored programme is that it will produce better results for your staff and your organisation.

The Hydra Suite
The Hydra Suite is our cutting-edge new facility for running Critical Decision Immersive Simulations – real-time, multimedia experiences that simulate an unfolding crisis and the results of participants responses to it. The simulations replicate the complexities of real-life crisis situations, aiming to help users test their decision-making, critical thinking, communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
Hydra scenarios are specifically designed to develop participants' skills as informed practitioners, confident in their own capabilities and able to operate effectively as leaders and group participants in a high-pressure situation. You could work with us to integrate elements of your business into one of our scenarios, or to provide us with a real-life case study for us to turn into a scenario to be given to students.
