Connecting with our student talent

Placements fair

There are many ways in which you can work with us and our student talent to support your organisation's goals. If you would like to discuss opportunities of how we can work together to support your business objectives we would be delighted to hear from you.

Recruit a placement student

A placement is an opportunity for students to acquire and demonstrate the skills employers want. For you as an employer, it presents an opportunity to spot talent in a real working environment over a period of time and make job offers prior to graduation. We have a long history of supporting undergraduate students into work placements via our Placement Team, who have developed excellent links with a variety of businesses in the region and beyond, keen to recruit our students.

Summer Internships

We can help you promote your internship scheme if you have one already, or advise you on setting up a student-friendly scheme. Summer internships, usually eight to twelve weeks over the holiday months are very valuable to students seeking to take the first steps in their career. This is a great way to get to know the student, assess how they fit into the organisation and potentially save on your recruitment costs by offering them a role on graduation.

Module Involvement

We encourage many of our talented students to work on real-life projects within their curriculum, ranging from communications audits to dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, tailored to areas requested by individual companies. Students from the Business School have successfully worked alongside Kirkgate Market and the Victoria Gate complex, using their Retail Management expertise to solve emerging issues in the development.

If you would like to get your business involved in the modules at Leeds Business School and get matched with new talent, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Insight events and open days

Many companies like to offer open days or insight events for undergraduates and graduates to visit their offices and find out more about what they do. We can help to organise, promote and register students for these events, which usually involve a tour of the office and an opportunity for students to ask questions and interact with representatives and trainees.

Application Workshops

Increase the number of quality applicants to your organisation by providing students with an insight into your recruitment process. We can offer space, support and promotion for you to run a mini assessment centre, CV surgery or an application or interview workshop, all of which can be great ways to boost awareness of your organisation, the opportunities you have available and sought-after skills in your industry.

Guest Speaker Series

We are proud to host a wide variety of guest lectures, ranging from our Yorkshire Bank sponsored Guest Speaker Series aimed at businesses, professionals and students - to in-module or standalone lectures on any topic you think would benefit our students.

Our guest speaker series is popular with professionals in the region and our student community. To view our upcoming events and book tickets visit guest speaker series. We are always happy to discuss guest lecture opportunities so please get in touch to find out how to share your expertise on our campus.

Sponsorship opportunities

The Business School has a packed calendar of events including guest lectures, seminars, conferences and more. We also offer a number of prizes every academic year for excellence in particular courses, modules or subject areas. Sponsoring an event or offering awards or prizes to students raises your profile on campus and promotes awareness of your organisation.

Employer in focus pop-up stands

Increase awareness of your company by booking a pop-up stand in the Rose Bowl or in our central City Campus careers space, The Gateway, where you can distribute information, speak to students, and make arrangements for further contact with students who impress you. This is a great way to get your brand in front of students and find the brightest talent first.

Advertising your vacancies

For businesses working with Leeds Beckett, we can advertise your vacancies directly to our students in the Business School through targeted emails or our specialised vacancy system. We can tailor the content of the email to suit the jobs being advertised and target students studying appropriate degree courses or modules. This is an excellent way to gain maximum exposure for your vacancy and organisation with students studying relevant topics, as well as recent graduates.
