Building a sustainable future through collaborative research
The Leeds Sustainability Institute, based at Leeds Beckett University, is a centre of research, informed and supported by business leaders, professional associations and community groups. Our purpose is to address the challenges of creating more sustainable places, communities and economies, influencing and shaping the future via our networks and partners.
Work undertaken in social policy, low-carbon building, materials, green computing, renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure ensures the institute is well placed to help shape and influence sustainable policies in developed and developing countries around the world. Central to the institute are our seven interlinked research themes.
With research expertise developed over two decades, we offer a wealth of experience and skills across an array of disciplines. We can deliver a bespoke consultancy service to businesses and organisations, and we also provide an extensive knowledge base to clients and students thanks to our established networks and partners.
We have many working partnerships with universities and organisations around the world, and our field trials and work with communities have a direct impact on the policies and regulations that will pave the way to a low-carbon built environment. The practices we have developed are being adopted across Europe and are impacting on the way buildings are tested and monitored to ensure good performance. Our research has resulted in new industry standards, taking us a step closer to a truly sustainable future.
