Anthony Mullally

Anthony Mullally, rugby player for Leeds Rhinos

After moving to Leeds in 2014 to join the Leeds Rhinos rugby team, Anthony, 25, fell in love with the city.

The popular rugby player gives us the lowdown on where to go, what to do and why he’s loving living in Leeds.

How long have you lived here?

I came to Leeds around three years ago whilst playing for Huddersfield Giants. I moved to Headingley which I loved immediately; it was one of the reasons I wanted to play for Leeds Rhinos.

What's your favourite thing to do in in Leeds?

I love being in the outdoors and climbing so for me it's going up to Armcliffe Crag where I can go bouldering. I really enjoy it up there.

Pick your top three spots in Leeds for us

Being a vegan, Hyde Park Book Club is one of my favourite cafes as it’s vegetarian. Also Headingley stadium as I love playing for Leeds there. Belgrave Music Hall is one of my favourite bars in the summer, because it has a great roof top bar and does amazing pizza.

Describe Leeds in three words

Lively. Quirky. Fun.

Leeds knocks the socks off anywhere else because...

The alternative music scene in the independent cafes and bars around the city is unlike anywhere else, and there’s a good blend of students giving the place a sense of community with many places giving them great offers.

Whats your ideal weekend in Leeds

A day out enjoying the food and music at Belgrave on Saturday, then Sunday head off to Bramhope for a day of climbing and a meal at a country pub.

If you were hosting someone new to the city, where would you take them first?

Headingley, as it has a wide variety of bars, sporting venues, restaurants to suit everyone.
