Oxygen FreeJumping has a student night on Thursdays
Trampolining has definitely become a fitness trend and we keep seeing jump centres popping up everywhere. The good news for you is that Oxygen FreeJumping has a night dedicated to students. Bring a valid student card and you get a one hour jumping session - as a bonus for all your hard work, you get fed with free pizza afterwards. There really isn’t a downside to this!
Leeds Beckett has two gyms and swimming pool facilities on campus
Gone are the days when you have to search for a gym as Beckett has one on each site for you. Headingley Campus boasts a 20-metre swimming pool, 3G pitches, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, squash courts and even a running track. Both campuses offer gym facilities and if you’re a first year undergraduate then it’s free for you to use and on the whole it’s pretty cheap for the rest of us.
Did you know... Revolucion De Cuba run weekly salsa classes.
We’ve all had that inner Strictly Come Dancing moment and luckily, one of the top bars in Leeds offers a salsa class every Tuesday evening from 7:30pm. You don’t have to panic about having two left feet as they have a free beginner taster session and intermediate levels at just £3 a class - no sequins or tan required!

Did you know… Leeds is home to Yorkshire’s first outdoor obstacle training gym
That’s correct, you thought you were out of the cold but Fitness Success Obstacle Gym is putting you right back in the thick of it. If you’re thinking about completing the Tough Mudder challenge or something equally as challenging in 2018, this gym can prepare you for the harsh climates you are likely to face. Or if you just fancy having a tyre race on a Saturday afternoon, that’s fine as well.
Leeds Beckett has its own Outdoor Society
If you get the outdoor fitness bug from visiting the obstacle gym then you can continue your expeditions by joining the university’s Outdoor Society. Those walking boots are made for walking and you’ll be doing a lot of it around different parts of the UK.

Leeds hosts a Student Colour Run once a year
If you set yourself a challenge at the start of the year to run a 5K, this is possibly the most fun way to do it. You’ll be a happy, colourful mess as you take on this unique route - have colour fights, cause chaos and work off those calories.
2018 will be the second time this has been done and it definitely captures the spirit of being a student. Keep updated on their Facebook page for news of the next run: https://www.facebook.com/studentcolourrunleeds/
Did you know… you can set up your own Netball and 7-a-side football team
Grab a bunch of friends, colour coordinate and start your own team. The university has a Campus Sport programme with leagues in netball and football, where you can play for enjoyment. Sign up for £50 and all equipment and officials are provided.
