Marketing students shortlisted for national marketing award
The Leeds Beckett Marketing Society has been shortlisted as one of the top ten teams from across the UK that will be heading through to the final round of the competition, The Pitch, which involves students being tasked with a real-life marketing challenge which is set by a leading global brand.
Sam Lomax, Kristian Lowe and Duncan Wain, final year students from Marketing and Advertising management, impressed the judges, which included experts from Hawaiian Tropic and LIDL.
Neil Kelley, Course Director in the Leeds Business School said: “I’m thrilled that these three final year students have made it through to the finals of The Pitch. Our Marketing courses have a strong history of performing well in this national competition including a winning entry in 2017.”
“This is a great opportunity for the students to be recognised as marketers of the future, and to demonstrate their professional marketing acumen in response to a real-life marketing challenge.”
The shortlist will be narrowed down to three, with the finalists being taken to the 2019 CIM Marketing Excellence Awards on 11 April. The winning team will be announced and presented with the ‘Marketers of the Future’ award.
Gemma Butler, Marketing Director at CIM said: “We’ve been inundated with high-calibre applications this year. It’s been fantastic to get a glimpse of the student talent across the UK and we’re very much looking forward to seeing the finalists bring their ideas to life in the final show on February 14th”
The students will take part in the final of the competition on February 14 2019.
