Leeds Beckett to support Leeds Digital Job Fair
The Leeds Digital & Tech Jobs Fair will take place Wednesday 10 February at the Leeds First Direct Arena from 12pm until 7pm and will bring together a mixture of small, large and growing businesses across the technology spectrum.
Leeds now has more than 600 technology vacancies, creating a growing skills gap. The Leeds Digital & Tech Job Fair will draw thousands of highly skilled candidates into the city with a view to putting Leeds firmly on the digital map.
The event is being sponsored by Tech North, along with: Leeds City Council; Leeds Beckett University; and Leeds BID in partnership with HERD.
Speaking about the event, Melanie Parker, Stakeholder Manager, Faculty of Business & Law at Leeds Beckett University, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with HERD, Leeds City Council and Technorth to address the ever-growing skills gap within the Digital and Tech sector across the region.
“Our ambition at Leeds Beckett is to continue a strong dialogue with business, and our students and graduates to create awareness of the sector and the jobs within it. We are communicating with employers on the creation of course content that the digital and tech sector require to ensure we are creating a pipeline for business to recruit the graduate talent they need within their organisations immediately and in the future.
“The Leeds Digital & Tech Jobs Fair gives us an opportunity to showcase to the regions students the wealth of employers who are looking to recruit, and encourage mutually beneficial discussions. The region’s economy is sure to continue to grow and we see ourselves as an active part in helping to achieve this through consultation with business and key contributors in the Northern Powerhouse strategy.”
