Leeds Beckett opens its doors to future students with postgraduate open day
There are more than 200 postgraduate course options available at Leeds Beckett University. The open day will run both at lunchtime, from 12-2pm, and in the evening, from 4.30-7pm, at both the University’s city centre and Headingley campuses. It will be an opportunity to find out about the benefits of further study or research for career advancement, a change in direction, or the pursuit of a lifelong passion.
Visitors will be able to meet academics from the postgraduate and professional courses taught at Leeds Beckett or talk to the University’s research office to find out more about studying for a research degree. Specialist staff will also be on hand to offer advice around the application process and funding, including postgraduate loans for Masters degrees and employer sponsorship. Attendees will be able to get a taste of student life at the University by attending an introductory talk and a range of course taster sessions, lectures and specialist facility tours.

MSc Criminology student, Anna Perfitt, said: “I went to the Open Day at Leeds Beckett and spoke to the lecturers about the field I was interested in. While I was there I came across lecturers from Criminology and actually decided, through conversation with them, that that was the real field of study that was most interesting to me.”
MSc Sport and Exercise Biomechanics student, James Webber, said: “The introduction of the new £10,000* government loan definitely swayed my decision in wanting to study. Previously I might have needed to rely on a bank loan, but the Masters loan has made my course far more accessible.”
Chris Brady, Postgraduate Marketing Manager at Leeds Beckett, added: “There are many reasons why people should visit us for our Open Day. If you are looking to progress in your career, earn more money, change direction or simply want to gain more knowledge in an area that interests you, this is an opportunity to talk to our academic staff and plan your next steps.”
*The loan is now £10,280 for 2017/18.
