Prestigious award presented to university IT boss
The 2018 FDM everywoman in Technology Awards celebrate the brightest individuals changing the face of technology in the UK and beyond.
During a gala ceremony in Park Lane’s London Hilton hotel, Tanja picked up the Team Leader Award. The annual award is presented to a woman whose team leadership has greatly contributed to her organisation’s success and is leading a team of up to 100 employees.
Tanja said: “I'm humbled to receive this award, especially as my fellow finalists were strong dynamic women, whom I hold in such high regard.
“I’m proud to be representing higher education, and especially such an inclusive organisation as Leeds Beckett that supports such strong core equality values.
“I’d like to thank my colleagues who have supported my outreach activities, and the women who came before me, whose struggle built the path I now walk on and now carry the responsibility for.”
This year's awards theme was "Inspiring Tomorrow's World", and aimed to highlight the importance of encouraging women to study STEM subjects from a young age and motivating them to pursue fulfilling, long-term careers in tech. The proportion of women currently working in the technology sector is just 16%.
Tanja was among 39 finalists who were handpicked from a record breaking number of entries by a panel of the UK's most senior technology leaders.
