Camp Carnegie returns for Spring half term
Taking place at the Carnegie Sports Centre from Tuesday 31 May to Friday 3 June, Camp Carnegie is open to children aged eight to 14 years of all sporting abilities.
New to the Camp this year is the American sports programme, including American football, lacrosse, baseball/softball, ultimate Frisbee and dodgeball, as well as the opportunity for children to mix and match the different sports during the day. They will have access to some of the finest sports facilities in the country, within the safety of the University’s grounds.
Kirsty Mcphee, Racket Sports Development Officer at Leeds Beckett, explained: “Camp Carnegie is back and bigger than ever for spring and summer camps 2016. This year we are adding American sports to our programme as well as keeping our old favourites. We have also introduced a new specialist American Football camp for the summer, and the opportunity to mix and match the activities that children take part in. All camps will consist of fun and friendly training environments as well as a high level of coaching.”
The Camp runs from 10am to 4pm each day, with the option of paying for wraparound care from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Children will be taught by qualified and friendly coaching staff, who will place them into age and ability-appropriate groups.
The athletics programme includes sprinting, hurdling, long jump, javelin, discus and shot put; whilst the rackets programme features tennis, badminton, squash and table tennis.
The cost of the Camp is £15 for a half day, £25 for a full day, and £30 for a full day with wraparound care from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Alternatively, the additional care can be added for £3 for either 8.30am to 10am or 4pm to 5.30pm.

Camp Carnegie will return in the summer holidays, from Monday 1 August to Friday 2 September, offering a larger programme of athletics, rackets, tennis, American football and American sports for children aged eight to 14 years. There will also be tennis sessions running for younger players, aged four to seven.
