Global law firm partner to speak at Leeds Beckett
A senior partner leading global law firm DLA Piper’s Banking and Infrastructure team in Leeds, Allison manages a team of 40 lawyers and works on high profile, complex legal work.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 5.30-7pm on Tuesday 26 April at the University’s Rose Bowl building at the city campus.
As a lawyer, Allison specialises in major infrastructure transactions across a number of sectors. She has extensive experience advising procuring authorities, sponsors and funders on roads and energy projects in particular.
In 2011, Allison won the award for retaining and developing legal talent at the Association of Women Solicitors awards, before going on to win the Law Society's Businesswoman of the Year award. Reflecting her commitment to the development of the next generation of women in DLA, Allison heads up the Pearls programme within the firm. Allison was recently in the Northern Power Women’s Top 50 Power List.
Externally, Allison is a Non-Executive Director of Leeds NHS Trust and is on the Board of the Sustainable Economy and Culture Board of Leeds City Council. She is also Chair of the Two Percent Club in Yorkshire, an organisation whose members are in the top two per cent of business women in each region in the UK.
Paul Houghton, Principal Lecturer in Accounting, Finance and Economics at Leeds Beckett, added: “Allison is a prominent and incredibly inspiring figure on the Leeds legal scene. She has achieved a lot both in practising law and as a businesswoman and it will be fascinating to hear about her career and what she has to say about how regionally, resources and business can marry up effectively.”
