Dance Professional Development Day aims to empower young people
The event, entitled: ‘The Awakening Dance: Student teachers’ dance resources Key Stages 1-5, inspired by the work of Jenni Eden – Planting Positivity’, will run from 8.20am-4.30pm on Monday 9 May at the University’s Headingley campus.
Dr John Connell, who has organised the event, said: “The day will include teaching, presentations, discussions and performances.
“Created by student teachers at Leeds Beckett, the event’s content has transferability to the teaching of dance at Key Stages 1-5 and focuses upon current Government issues surrounding mental health and young people in schools, obesity and empowerment.
“The day will also help develop cross-curricular learning and teaching experiences in and through dance. There is a special presentation by Jenni Eden, visual artist and life coach, ‘The more grateful you are, the more great and full your life becomes’.”
There is no charge for the conference and parking is free on campus. Donations are encouraged to be made to Parkinson’s UK. Attendees are welcome to bring their own refreshments or they can be purchased on site.
Registration will be held from 8.20-8.50am in the Sports Centre reception.
Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please email Dr Connell at j.connell@leedsbeckett.ac.uk to reserve your place.
