Advice, support and inspiration for budding entrepreneurs at Leeds Beckett University business event
Entitled ‘A day to change your life’, the one-day course will be held at Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre in Middleton from 9.30am-4.30pm on Thursday 26 May.
The event will provide guidance and support to assist new business start-ups, particularly those based in South Leeds.
Malcolm Hall who works as a Business Connector for Business in the Community and is leading the event, said: “Statistics show that where there are high levels of unemployment and low levels of educational attainment, numbers of start-up businesses are also below average.
“Reasons may vary from a lack of confidence, lack of understanding of what is required, lack of finance, or simply that it is perceived as too much of a risk. As a result great ideas and entrepreneurs are stifled before they even start.
“This workshop will aim to demystify self-employment, instil confidence that anything is possible and provide guidance and support to stimulate entrepreneurship in South Leeds.
“With the help of partners including Leeds Beckett University, cida, Lloyds Bank, Blacks Solicitors and WGN Accountants, we will deliver this one-day course and illustrate how you can take an idea or product, find customers and build a business. We’ll also advise how finance can be found if required and use important lessons from others to reduce the risk of failure.”
Kirstie Frenneaux, Project Manager of the Enterprise & Innovation Academy at Leeds Beckett University added: “We are really excited to have this opportunity to deliver our enterprise training programme to a new audience and engage with the community in South Leeds. Our focus on the day will be to inspire, build confidence and provide practical tips to help our delegates test and launch their ideas for self-employment.”
Lunch will be provided free of charge on the day. Places are limited, to reserve your place please contact Malcolm on 07740699738 or e-mail him at malcolm.hall@bitcconnect.org.
