Horror film to premiere at 2018 Frightfest
Paul Butler, Principal Learning Officer, and Stewart Sparke, Senior Learning Officer from the Northern Film School, produced and directed the film following the success of their first feature ‘The Creature Below’ in the 2016 Frightfest film festival.
As well as being produced by two members of the Northern Film School staff, the team were assisted by a number of current students and graduates from the BA (Hons) and MA Filmmaking course at Leeds Beckett University who took on roles, including Director of Photography and Sound Recordist.
The film focusses on six ‘kick-ass’ women who are attending a birthday party which soon turns into a bloodbath when six terrifying monsters descend upon the house, intent on devouring the party guests and killing anyone who tries to leave.
Lyndsey Craine, actress who starred in the duo’s first feature film, returns in ‘Book of Monsters’, taking on the role of Sophie. She stars alongside other returning actors and actresses, including Nicholas Vince, who has also starred in films such as Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2.
Paul said: “The students from the Northern Film School were incredibly professional and all extremely talented.”
‘Book of Monsters’ will be featured at the Frightfest film festival in London on Saturday 25 August.
