School of Built Environment and Engineering Student Awards 2018
Final year undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded prizes for a range of academic achievements, including best dissertation, best final year project and outstanding attainment across their course.
Each of the awards presented on the night were sponsored by professional industry bodies including the Association for Project Management (APM) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and by industry partners, including Hays Construction and Property, and Rex Procter Surveyors.
Professor Akintola Akintoye, Dean of the School of Built Environment and Engineering, said:
“The night was about bringing our students, academics and partners together and celebrating the success of our top achievers, and matching them with our high-profile sponsors.
“I would personally like to thank all of our School staff for helping our students to realise their goals and produce some truly outstanding work. We are very proud to be sending our Class of 2018 out to the industry.”
In addition to the prize-giving, attendees also heard from two keynote speakers who urged our graduates to use their innovation and enthusiasm to positively disrupt the industry, challenge norms and drive change for the better.
Mark Scott from EN:Able Futures gave an overview of the technological evolution of the industry over the past 40 years and provided an insight into what the next 10 years might look like, whilst CITU’S Jonathan Wilson, who is a former Leeds Beckett student, presented his company’s vision to deliver more homes back into city centre environments.
