Campus Thrift Shop now open
25 September 2017 - Nick Boothroyd
The Students’ Union Volunteering team have unveiled their new Campus Thrift Shop which is now open to all. Any donations are very welcome.
The initiative provides students with employable skills alongside offering students and staff an on-campus Thrift Shop.
Beatrice Marshall-Ngan, Volunteering and Community Engagement Manager said: “This is the volunteering team's biggest project yet and we want everyone to be part of it.
“The best part is that every penny you spend will go right back into the SU, so we can do more awesome things. So we’re encouraging everyone to have a nosey, learn about our current volunteering opportunities and grab a bargain.”
Students can offer to help with creating displays, running the business side of the Thrift Shop, and support the marketing and communications. There is also the opportunity to develop the stock generation and support the volunteer recruitment, all of which require enthusiastic and committed students in these roles to sustain a successful enterprise.
The Thrift Shop is seeking donations of clothes, books, and homeware and donations would be greatly appreciated. Staff and students can drop items off at the Thrift Shop which is open Monday-Friday 11:00 – 14:00 in the Students' Union on Headingley Campus.
