Academic work featured as part of major exhibitions


An 11-year collaboration between Mark Carey, Senior Lecturer in the Northern Film School, and contemporary artist Jasmina Cibic has led to their work featuring in two major exhibitions.

The DHC Art Montreal exhibition, which runs until 3 March 2019, features the film ‘State of Illusion’. Mark, along with a Leeds Beckett student joined a professional crew on location in Sombor, Northern Serbia to participate in the shoot for this film.

Mark also assisted on a second film, ‘NADA Act 1’ which was shot in Croatia in 2016 and is currently being screened at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York as part of their exhibition, ‘Toward a Concrete Utopia: Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948 – 1980’.

‘NADA Act 3’, the third part of the ‘NADA’ series which was shot on location in Germany, is also currently on a UK wide exhibition tour.

Mark’s work has taken him all over the world, and has culminated in a number of awards, including a number of BAFTA nominations.
