Make a Green Impact at Leeds Beckett
21 December 2017
We’re looking for departments across the university to join our Green Impact behaviour change and accreditation scheme which helps participants to improve their carbon footprint.
Departments register as teams and manage their environmental commitments by using an online toolkit. The toolkit lists simple actions which, when done on a larger scale have a positive impact on our university’s carbon footprint.
Levels start at bronze with easy and manageable tasks and progress to more challenging silver and gold ones.
Nine teams are currently involved with Green Impact here; these colleagues have worked relentlessly to make a difference in their workplace and to make our university more sustainable.
Teams complete the toolkit throughout the year and these are submitted to be audited by student volunteers. Auditing the Green Impact scheme provides an opportunity for students to broaden their experience and meet the people who help run our university.
For all the hard work and commitment, we provide teams with their awards during an awards dinner. Six Teams have been given awards ranging from bronze, silver, and gold.
Across the world, over 56,000 actions have been completed and nearly 16,000 people across 150 organisations have taken part.
The Green Impact scheme is a great way for departments to engage in a unique and fun activity while making a difference in their workplace and the university. If you are interested in getting involved you can register here: www.greenimpact.org.uk/leedsbeckett/register or email Leeds Beckett Sustainability Team: firstname.lastname@example.org.
