Inclusive employment awards name Leeds Beckett in top 10
The university was chosen ahead of 160 other organisations working with the diversity-focused careers company on making employment fairer and more people-orientated.
Leeds Beckett’s active role in the annual Leeds Pride event and the Rainbow Rose LGBT forum were singled out for particular praise by the judging panel, who also included the likes of the Post Office, Lloyds Banking Group and ITV in the list.
The university’s work on becoming more LGBT inclusive is part of its ongoing commitment to providing a vibrant, ethical and sustainable working and learning environment.
Rainbow Rose Co-Chair Ian Pette, said: “We actively try to provide an open and inclusive environment for staff and students alike; letting everyone perform to their best ability by being themselves in the workplace.
“Our active staff LGBTQ+ network, Rainbow Rose, has been building a presence over the past few years as part of a network of diversity groups, and engages both with our staff, students and the wider Leeds LGBT community.”
VERCIDA Chief Executive Officer Morgan Lobb added: “The power of what we do is to make job search about more than just a vacancy.
“It’s building an environment where people bring their whole self to work, talk about success and together remove the barriers to great employment.”
