Leeds Beckett University graduates set for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
All three athletes graduated in BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science at Leeds Beckett University.
Sarah, who graduated in 2000, is the most decorated Team GB female Paralympian, having won 14 gold medals, eight silvers and three bronze since making her debut at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
Sarah has the opportunity to become Team GB’s most successful all-time Paralympian in Tokyo. If Sarah claims gold in her three events at the Games, the C5 individual pursuit; C5 time trial and C4-5 road race, she will surpass swimmer Mike Kenny’s record of 16 gold medals.
At Rio 2016, Kadeena Cox MBE became the first para-athlete in history to win two gold medals in different events at the same Paralympic Games after winning gold, and breaking world records, in the T38 400m and C4-5 time trial.
Powerlifter Ali Jawad competed at the Rio Paralympics and won Silver on his debut in the -59kg category.
