Big cup wins for Beckett's Athletic Union clubs

Beckett's top teams win silverware at the Northern Conference Cup Finals day in Manchester

Northern Conference Cup Finals

Several of Beckett's top teams travelled over to Manchester to compete in a historic Northern Conference Cup finals day.

The BUCS Northern Conference Cup Finals were hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester which saw a number of Northern universities battle it out for silverware.

Women's Hockey 2's crowned champions

Beckett's women's Hockey 2nd team capped off another stellar year for the club by winning their Northern Conference Cup Final in Manchester.

The team defeated Durham 2-1 in a closely fought encounter to claim yet more silverware for the Hockey club and continue the long line of success for the club.

Tennis at the double for National Conference Cup title victories

There was another victory for a Leeds Beckett Women's 2nd team in the Tennis as they defeated Durham 8-2 to be crowned champions in Manchester.

Meanwhile their male 4th team counterparts were also crowned champions as they defeated Northumbria's 1st team 8-4 to cap off another excellent season for Tennis.

Elsewhere, Beckett's Men's 2nd team were victorious over Nottingham in their BUCS Trophy match, winning 8-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the Tennis Trophy competition.

Agonising Northern Conference Cup defeats for Women's Hockey 3rd's and Badminton's Men

There were agonising defeats for Hockey's Women's 3rd team and Men's Badminton 1st's in Manchester - both overcoming adversity.

In the Hockey, Beckett's women competed admirably against rivals University of Leeds after winning their semi-final the night before their big final match. Beckett displayed a never say die attitude which saw them level 1-1 at full time, but the ladies succumb to a 4-1 lose on flicks to narrowly miss out on winning the cup.

Meanwhile, Beckett's Badminton looked to be down and out when they went 4-0 down to Liverpool in their final, but a late surge from Beckett saw the true heart and desire of the men who managed to claw back the contest to 4-3 setting up a nervy finish for both teams. It was too little too late, however, for Beckett who left themselves too much work to do, losing out agonisingly 5-3 in a heroic effort.

Beckett's cup runs continue

Beckett cruised to an early 34-0 lead against the East Yorkshire outfit before turning on the style again in the second half to run out 56-0 winners. Beckett will now host Newcastle in the Championship semi finals on Wednesday 14 March 2pm, Kirkstall.

Men's Lacrosse set for Championship Cup Semi Final

Becket'ts Men's Lacrosse confirmed their place in the semi finals as they defeated Bristol 4-3 away in the Quarter Final round of the Lacrosse Championship.

Victory for Beckett will now see them host Nottingham Trent University in the semi final on Wednesday 14 March 3pm, Headingley Campus.
