We offer free placement years on a range of courses – some universities charge a fee for this. A placement year is the perfect way to impress employers when you graduate.

We've got a library that's open 24-7, 365 days a year. Whether it's on campus, online or on-the-go, we've got more than 325,000 books and 140,000 electronic resources including ebooks, journals, databases and newspapers.

We organise around 100,000 hours of paid work for students per year through our Job Shop. Most of the jobs we offer are varied and provide flexible hours to fit around your studies. 

13. Varsity - it's kind of a big deal round here

Each year we take on University of Leeds in around 60 fixtures across 25 different sports, all in one day. The finale is the Men’s Rugby Union contest held at Headingley Stadium, which attracts thousands of students. We’ve won the last 10 Varsity events.

14. Making new friends


One of the highlights of university is making friends for life. Our mascot Beckett Bear and regular visitor Carnegie Cat hit it off straight away.

15. Get on your bike

Cycling has really taken off in Leeds since the Tour de France visited Yorkshire in 2014 and you can get involved too. We’ve got our own student bike hire scheme – Velocampus Leeds. Hire a bike for £35 a semester and just £10 for the three months after that.
