Our University expects all research to be conducted to the highest standards of rigour and integrity. At the beginning of your programme of study you must consider the ethical issues relating to your proposed project. Discussions with your supervisory team will help you establish and understand the ethical implications of your research project. They will also advise on the process for gaining ethical approval for your project should it be required.
While you may not need ethical approval straight away, you will be expected to understand the specific ethical issues of your project at the point of Confirmation of Registration.
Leeds Beckett University operates an online Research Ethics Approval System. All projects, however straightforward, must be submitted for review and be approved before data collection begins. If your research project involves research with or about people, you must obtain ethical approval before starting your research. Please be aware that as your research progresses it may change and it will therefore be necessary to obtain further approval.
