Edward Barber
Edward Barber – BA (Hons) Interior Design

Edward is the co-founder of London based design agency Barber Osgerby and designed the Olympic torch for London 2012. He graduated from our school in 1989.

Edward had initially wanted to study in London though didn't like the look of any of the courses on offer which is when he found the Interior Design course at Leeds Beckett. He had a fantastic time in Leeds and really enjoyed his course.

Following his undergraduate course Edward went on to do an MA at the Royal College of Art where he met Jay Osgerby who he later formed Barber Osgerby with. The two were awarded the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize in 2004, their work is held in permanent museum collections including the V&A in London and the Beckett Museum of Art, New York and won the tender to design the Olympic torch.

Edward has made a significant contribution to both design and education. To mark these achievements Leeds Beckett presented with the honorary awards of Doctor of Arts in July 2012.
