Geoland Project

Geoland was an Integrated Project within the European Commission`s Sixth Framework Programme (FP-6), Priority AERO-2.2 - Aeronautics and Space, which ran from 2004-2007. It involves 56 partner organisations across the European Union, such as for example the United Nations, Space Research Institute of Russian Academy of Science and the Environment Agency. The project aimed to provide and establish geo-information products and services to support the European Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme using Earth Observation resources and integrating them with existing models into pre-operational end-user applications

The Spatial Planning Observatory, one of six observatories within geoland, introduced innovative Earth Observation derived information products for use in spatial planning at European, national and regional levels. CUDEM provided the lead on European-wide policy inputs in the Spatial Planning Observatory.
