The Nursing subject area is a highly skilled group who provide courses across all of our academic levels, a number of our courses are approved and monitored annually by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). These include undergraduate courses that take students to initial registration with the NMC, and postgraduate courses that allow nurses to record or re-register additional qualifications with the NMC.

The team aims to ensure that the Health and Social care economy has the right skills to provide the right care at the right time and are therefore flexible in providing a range of other clinical short courses and standalone modules related to health and wellbeing. These are accessed by both nurses and non-nurses such as support workers and advanced clinical practitioners. Some courses are also accredited by the Charted Management Institute (CMI), HPCP, and ACE/Apple scheme. Our University has many bespoke facilities to deliver our courses not least a state of the art skills suite with high-fidelity manikins.

The team's flexibility in providing bespoke training, work based education and consultancy has allowed them to develop strong partnerships with the NHS Trusts in the region together with private independent and voluntary organisations. Most of the committed and enthusiastic lecturing team are currently engaged in research that informs healthcare or educational practice and policy.
