This beginners course will provide an overview of digital photography principles and techniques so that you may increase your confidence, knowledge and skills in order to produce your very best photographs.
This course is suitable for complete beginners and for those wishing to refresh their knowledge in a friendly and supportive learning environment.

On completion of this course you will have acquired a range of new skills, experiences and knowledge to help you get the most from your camera and produce your best photographs.
What will I learn?
This course will introduce you to the basic principles of digital photography; you will learn about the fundamentals of photography such as composition, exposure and lighting. You will learn how to set your camera according to the subject you are photographing (for example, portraiture/landscape) and have the opportunity to practice your new skills in our fully equipped, industry-standard photographic studio. You will also be guided through basic Photoshop editing and how to prepare images for print.
You will study:
- Camera settings
- Shooting modes
- Basic lighting (for portrait and still life/product)
- Essential Photoshop: basic editing and preparing to print
- Creative camera techniques
- Project development
Location and Facilities
The course will be delivered at the Leeds School of Art, Architecture & Design. The school is based in Broadcasting Place on Woodhouse Lane. The courses is delivered in a professionally equipped photography workshop and lighting studio, where you will have access to use industry standard camera and studio equipment.
