Institute of Directors (IoD) Programmes
We hold an exclusive regional franchise to deliver Institute of Director (IoD) programmes and have been a recognised provider of executive governance programmes for over 20 years, since 1991. The IoD programmes are ideal for directors, senior executives, entrepreneurs, owner managers and for those who aspire to work at a strategic boardroom level in the private, public or not for profit sectors. For directors wishing to build their qualification further, the IoD Certificate and Diploma in Company direction can be used to progress to become a Chartered Director and gain fast track access on the MSc in Executive Leadership.
You will have ongoing opportunities to network, share ideas and learn from the practical experiences of other like-minded business leaders. Up to 50% Match Funding Available with Skills ServiceLeeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has launched a service that provides skills support to small and medium sized businesses. The LEP skills service helps businesses to identify their skills needs based on their business growth objectives and then find the right training solution. Small and medium sized business based in the Leeds City Region that have a budget to put towards training could be eligible for funding of between £500 and £50,000. Please note that all skills service applications are subject to approval panels and are assessed on a case by case basis.
There are three stages to the IoD's development programme:
Stage 1: Certificate in Company Direction
This comprises of four modules which can be attended separately or if all four are completed and passed you will be awarded the Certificate in Company Direction:
- Leadership for Directors
For Directors and Executives to gain sustainable competitive advantage by implementing an effective strategic leadership initiative.
- Finance for Non-Financial Directors
This course provides a vital knowledge of the financial terms and concepts needed by all directors in today’s business world.
- The Role of Company Director & The Board/The Director & The Law
An essential introduction for Directors who wish to gain an in-depth understanding of the critical role that they/the board play in shaping their organisation.
- The Directors Role in Strategy & Marketing
Aimed at Directors and Executives who wish to develop their strategic thinking skills and put strategy into operational practice.
Stage 2: Diploma in Company Direction
This can be completed after all the Certificate courses have been attended. It is the final stage before you can be considered to apply for the chartered Director status.
- Developing Board Performance - IoD Diploma Module
This module forms the basis of the Diploma in Company Direction and can only be completed after all the Certificate courses have been attended.
Stage 3: Chartered Director
Delegates can only move towards gaining their Chartered Director status once the Certificate and Diploma levels of the course have been completed. The coveted Chartered Director status is achieved through a series of assessments of your professional practice and is held as the definitive qualification for directors today.
Start Dates & Location
All four Certificate modules must be attended before delegates can sit the examinations, however there is no obligatory order to take these in. We schedule the modules in our suggested order, and each ‘cohort’ leads up to the examination shortly after the final module. If you would like to attend a single module to focus on a specialist area rather than acquire a qualification, you can attend the modules individually, without enrolling onto the full programme.
